Coffee Import Documents for Italy

What Travels With Every Container
Once you're registered as an importer in Italy, each individual coffee shipment still needs its own set of commercial, transport and health documents to clear customs smoothly.
This checklist covers the documents most commonly required. For the registration requirements that apply before your first import, see our full importer's guide.

The Core Shipment Documents
Each document covers a different aspect of the shipment, from commercial value to health traceability.

Bill of Lading or Airway Bill

Phytosanitary Certificate
Issued by the competent Indian plant health authority, generally required for green coffee entering the EU.
EUDR Traceability Data
Geolocation and supply chain information supplied by the exporter, used by the importer for the due diligence statement.
Quality / Analysis Certificate
Reports on moisture, defects and lot characteristics, useful for quality control and sometimes requested by the buyer.
